Popular NXT Stars Name Main Roster Opponents They Want To Face

New NXT Tag Team Champions were crowned at NXT Great American Bash on Sunday night, when Tony D’Angelo and Channing ‘Stacks’ Lorenzo defeated Gallus to become the new champions.

The Family’s victory came after weeks of angles of Stacks attempting to free the Don after he had been ratted out by Gallus.

The victory marks both men’s first championship win in the company.

With new Tag Team Champions, and more crossover between NXT and the main roster in recent months, the new champs have taken aim at some of the stars from the main roster they’d like to face.

Speaking to Busted Open Radio, Stacks named two teams from the main roster as potential opponents for the pair.

He said:

“You talk about NXT and this brand growing, I think the thing about NXT titles now, different from the main roster titles, main roster is more about defending. They’re in defense mode. To me, us holding these NXT Tag Team Titles puts us in defense and attack mode.

“We have our sights set on going up and taking on guys like The OC, taking on guys like The New Day. Obviously, we’re going to have all these teams in NXT coming up and getting a shot at us, but for us, our sights are set bigger.”

The New Day appeared on the NXT brand earlier this year, with them winning the NXT Tag Team Championship from Pretty Deadly back at NXT Deadline in December.

New Day lost the titles to Gallus back at NXT Stand & Deliver over WrestleMania 39 weekend.
