Orange Cassidy Comments On Controversial Canadian Destroyer Spot On AEW Dynamite AEW

AEW International Champion Orange Cassidy has now addressed the controversial Canadian Destroyer spot from this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite.

In the main event of Wednesday’s (August 30) show, Cassidy defended his gold against Penta El Zero M, ahead of his huge title defence this weekend.

While the match and Cassidy’s post-match promo were generally well received, there’s one spot from the bout which has divided fans.

During the contest, Cassidy dropped Penta with a Canadian Destroyer flip piledriver. Penta instantly got up from this to hit a Destroyer of his own, which OC stood right up from to hit another flip piledriver, before the match continued.

While some fans enjoyed the unpredictability of this spot, others criticised the wrestlers for no-selling multiple piledrivers.

You can watch a clip of this now-infamous spot below.

When asked about the dueling piledrivers in an interview with Brandon Walker on Rasslin‘ , Orange Cassidy simply replied:

“I blacked out. I went to another place.

(when asked what place he went to) “I don’t know.”

It’s truly a case of ‘out of the frying pan, into the fire’ for Cassidy, who after defeating Penta El Zero M, is slated to put his gold on the line against Jon Moxley at All Out 2023 on Sunday (September 3).

Another AEW star has revealed that he won’t be walking into his championship match at 100%, after suffering an injury at All In London.
