Results: AEW/ROH Jay Briscoe Tribute Show AEW

A Jamin Pugh (Jay Briscoe) ‘Celebration of Life’ tribute show was taped after AEW Dynamite and AEW Rampage last night (January 18).

The show was branded as a Ring of Honor show and will be available free on HonorClub and also on YouTube.

It’s unknown when it’ll air (Tony Khan’s latest tweet says “coming soon”), but spoilers from what was taped are below.

We’ll keep you updated on the airdate and will post the show here on the site when it’s available on YouTube.

In addition to these matches, the show will also feature people talking about their memories of Jay Briscoe, as well as classic Jay Briscoe matches.

The results of the matches that were taped last night were as follows:

  • Announcers Ian Riccaboni and Caprice Coleman opened the show talking about Jay Briscoe
  • Tony Khan came out and thanked the fans for being there to honor Briscoe’s legacy
  • Wheeler Yuta def. Hagane Shinno to retain the ROH Pure Wrestling Championship – The judges at ringside were Jerry Lynn, Dean Malenko and BJ Whitmer, but it didn’t go to the judges
  • Adam Cole came out and talked about his memories of Jay Briscoe – Cole said Jay would smack him in the back of the head right now and tell him to “man up and have a badass wrestling show”
  • Marina Shafir def. Mighty Myra
  • Eddie Kingston def. QT Marshall
  • Athena def. Madison Rayne w/Skye Blue – Athena attacked Blue after the match
  • Juice Robinson def. Brandon Cutler
  • Yuka Sakazaki def. Sandra Moone
  • Claudio Castagnoli def. Christopher Daniels to retain the ROH World Championship
  • Daniels and Castagnoli both spoke about Briscoe and his passing

Dave Meltzer reported that AEW “wasn’t allowed” by WBD to do a Brodie Lee-like tribute episode of Dynamite – you can read more about that at this link.

Delaware State Police posted a report on the incident that led to Briscoe’s passing, which you can read at this link.

Our thoughts continue to be with Jamin Pugh’s family, friends, and all those affected by his passing, and we send our best wishes to his daughters as they recover.
