Shawn Michaels Details Current Relationship With Bret Hart WWE

Shawn Michaels has spoken out about his relationship with old WWE rival and other half of the infamous “Montreal Screw Job”, Bret Hart.

Michaels, who now works as a WWE’s senior vice president of talent development creative, had a frosty relationship with Hart both in and out of the ring during the New Generation era of WWE, which took place in the 1990s.

The Heart Break Kid made an appearance on The MMA Hour with Ariel Helwani, where he was asked about his relationship with the Hitman:

“When everything is said and done, that was hard on both of us. It’s like an out of body experience. I have nothing in common with the person that I was then.

“Bret and I always talk about it – there was a friendship there before. There really was. And to have damaged that […] and to have wanted to mend it for so many years, […] we could never get it done.”

Michaels noted what it was like running in to Hart at this year’s WrestleMania:

“I always appreciate it, […] he always looks at me and goes ‘We’re good. We’re good, Shawn. And that means a lot, because I know it’s genuine. Bret doesn’t say stuff just to say it.”

Michaels summed up his feelings about the situation as follows:

“You don’t want to go the rest of your life not having that healed.”

The Kliq are now running the show in WWE, and Michaels has explained the aspect of his new role he believes is easier under Triple H.
