AEW star Shawn Spears has explained why he is no longer aligned with MJF, following his recent return.
Spears made his return to TV on the October 13 edition of Dynamite, before making his in-ring comeback on the October 15 episode of Rampage.
Prior to this bout, Spears last wrestled on the May 25 Dynamite, losing to Wardlow in a steel cage match that he was competing in on MJF’s behalf.
Wardlow and MJF notably faced off at that week’s Double or Nothing pay-per-view, with the powerhouse quickly squashing MJF.
During a recent K&S Wrestlefest virtual signing, Spears argued that he was just a small part of a bigger story when aligned with MJF.
Spears said:
“I think that was just the end of the story because the story was him (Wardlow) and Max. I was (just) a piece in that story.”
MJF is currently the AEW World Champion, winning the gold from Jon Moxley at AEW Full Gear on November 19.
Following Spears’ bout on the October 15 edition of Rampage, the star opened up about his absence, revealing that his mother passed away during his time off.
