The Undertaker Absent From Recent WWE AAA Event, Replacement Revealed

A WWE name reportedly took charge of a recent AAA event in replacement of The Undertaker.

While talent like El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio have shone in AAA throughout 2026, behind the scenes, The Undertaker has been pulling the strings as an executive producer and working alongside with Jeremy Borash in creative.

Undertaker’s work in creative has been praised by the likes of AAA Mega Champion Dominik Mysterio and Chad Gable, however, according to a new report, the promotion had to be placed into Jeremy Borash’s hands for the July 25 Verano De Escandalo event last weekend.

According to Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, The Undertaker was forced to miss the show due to a family commitment, with Borash running the show in his absence.

Shortly after WWE took over Mexican promotion AAA in April 2025, it was reported that Borash would be working behind the scenes in a creative capacity.

Borash’s influence since then has been felt on AAA’s product, with it recently being revealed that the former TNA name was behind the reforming of Los Perros Del Mal.

On Thursday, June 30, WWE announced that a major upcoming AAA event has had to move venues due to “unprecedented demand” – click here for full details.

Much like NXT during the Black & Gold era, AAA is becoming the TV show of choice for some of WWE’s more jaded fans.

With a one hour run time, AAA on FOX is a breezy watch and isn’t bogged down by the filler and sameness that can plague Raw and SmackDown.

The Mexican audience also add a great deal of extra enjoyment to the shows, conveying a passion and investment in the sport that can sometimes be lacking in certain US markets.

However, TripleMania 34 Night One moving to the MGM Grand in Las Vegas also proves that AAA’s popularity is only growing in the US, and that show is already looking set to be one of the most anticipated of the year – especially its main event between El Grande Americano and Dominik Mysterio.

Taking place in Mexico City, that match could rival the Mask vs. Mask Match from Noche de Los Grandes in terms of spectacle, especially if the former Ludwig Kaiser finally captures the AAA Mega Championship from ‘Dirty Dom.’
