WWE/AAA
A top AAA star is reportedly signed to a WWE contract according to a new backstage update.
After WWE announced the acquisition of Lucha Libre AAA during WrestleMania 41 weekend, the company seemed to make clear that El Hijo del Vikingo was their chosen face for the promotion, with the 28-year-old defeating Alberto El Patron for the Mega Championship one month after WWE’s acquisition.
While Vikingo looks set for another big year in AAA, now as a heel, PWInsiderElite has provided an update on his contract status.
According to the report, Vikingo is actually signed directly to a WWE contract, unlike others on the AAA roster, that are signed to FILLIP, which co-owns the holding company that controls AAA alongside TKO.
Despite being signed to WWE, Vikingo has not yet competed in a match for the company as of yet, aside from WWE & AAA crossover shows like Worlds Collide.
While he hasn’t appeared much, Vikingo is officially aligned with WWE’s Omos on AAA programming – with the pair coming together at Guerra De Titanes.
The promotion recently celebrated the premiere episode of AAA on FOX, with Omos helping Vikingo defeat El Grande Americano to become the new number one contender to Dominik Mysterio’s Mega Championship.
