An independent wrestler from the United Kingdom has revealed he underwent a tryout with TNA Wrestling.

Having been invited out to attend the TNA Wrestling tapings in Albany, New York earlier this week, UK-based Scotty Rawk opened up about the process and experience.

Rawk, an up-and-coming fixture on the UK independent wrestling scene, revealed that he was invited by email just last week, tweeting:

“Last week I got an email inviting me out to work with @ThisIsTNA – today I lived out a childhood dream as I wrestled in a @ThisIsTNA ring for a tryout.

“Thank you.”

He would share further details over on Instagram, thanking those involved in making that dream come true, posting:

“Last week i got an email inviting me out to work with @tnawrestling in Albany, New York – today I lived out a childhood dream when I had a tryout match and wrestled inside a @tnawrestling ring.

“A huge thank you to the company, @johnebravo1st @ingridisley & @danielspencer, as well as the rest of the crew. What an absolute privilege it has been to work with you all.”

With a career that started in 2016, Rawk has been a regular across the wrestling scene in England, predominantly in the Lincolnshire and Yorkshire region. More recently, he has expanded his reach to encompass the south of the country, seeing his talent develop under the tutelage of former WWE name Sid Scala at Hustle Wrestling.

The current NORTH Ultraviolent Champion, Rawk holds the BWR Heavyweight Championship, the United Wrestling Phantom Weight Championship and is the PWE Men’s Champion.

His association with BWR dates back to the Grimsby and Cleethorpes promotions’ first-ever show in July 2017 and continues to this day.

The Revolution Started Quietly

For Scotty Rawk, his arrival on the British wrestling scene at large didn’t happen overnight.

Based in Grimsby, a seaside town on the east coast of England, Rawk could have followed many of his contemporaries, staying in that corner of the country and wishing for something bigger.

A move to somewhere more central to England would see Rawk able to spread his wings further, opening up training opportunities in some of the country’s more prominent wrestling schools and seeing him able to demonstrate his talents promoters behind some of the top independent wrestling companies, while keeping the connections he had established with BWR, among others.

His growth has a professional wrestler has been apparent over recent years, finding a comfortable niche that he occupies with a confidence that belies his years. That confidence has bled over into his personal life, with the star discussing his sexuality in a recent interview with Attitude magazine, speaking proudly of his relationships and mental health journey, which has also seen him become something of an advocate.

A tryout in TNA Wrestling is no doubt just the first step for Rawk, who could very well follow in the footsteps of fellow North of England star Leon Slater, who was described as “so talented” by Matt Hardy in recent comments.
