Trick Williams has opened up about his gratitude for his success thus far in WWE, having experienced struggles in his earlier life.
Signed to a WWE contract since February 2021, Trick Williams made a move to SmackDown earlier this year, becoming the United States Champion by defeating Sami Zayn on Night Two of WrestleMania 42.
During a recent appearance on What’s Your Story? With Stephanie McMahon, Williams revealed that he’s enjoying the experience of being a WWE SmackDown star alongside his real-life fiancée Lash Legend, saying:
“I’m enjoying every single day. I wake up every morning next to my fianceé Lash Legend, and we both just so grateful as far as the first three months, four months on SmackDown. I couldn’t picture it going much better than it’s going right now. So, so, so grateful.”

As to where his sense of gratitude comes from, Williams would share an insight into his earlier years, saying:
“Not having it. Not knowing what was next. Not having the money to go get food, having to look at my account and be like, ‘Hmm, maybe I’ll get lunch, maybe I’ll get dinner.’”

The time period in question would be after college, with Williams going on to look back at the struggles he faced, stating:
“This is after college. This is on my own. My parents, great parents, they honestly would have done anything to make sure I was good, but this was me as a man having to figure out what was next in my life.
“Moving out to California, training at KnokX Pro and DoorDashing, teaching online, I’m on the West Coast, teaching online on the East Coast. Waking up at 4 o’clock in the morning on the West Coast, 7 o’clock on the East Coast, DoorDashing throughout the day, training at night. And doing the same thing in Philadelphia.
“I think going through that time period of my life, I just had to love the craft and love what I was doing. Taking a chance with pro wrestling, not knowing if I was gonna make it or not. But I truly enjoyed it. And now that I get paid for it, people love me too, man, I cracked the cheat code of life.
“There’s nothing really that I could complain about. I get to do the thing that I love every single week.”

With his first-ever WrestleMania moment now in the history books, Williams previously commented on his match against Sami Zayn that saw him secure his first main roster championship.
On The Road With The One You Love
Trick Williams and Lash Legend are far from the only WWE stars to be in a relationship, with this sixty-seven real-life couples listed in this very feature.
Some of the relationships translate into TV time, with Legend and Williams having locked lips at the end of an episode of NXT in March 2024, while other interactions have longer-term storyline implications, such as Seth Rollins & Becky Lynch or CM Punk & AJ Lee.
There are also subtle references, as has recently been seen between Bravo Americano (Tyler Bate) and Sol Ruca on the Los Americanos Instagram. Such interactions may not be referenced on television, but they are fun to see, building a story of their own.
Being on the same brand no doubt makes things easier, as it means couples get to travel to the same destination, instead of only seeing each other when paths cross. Furthermore, both members of the relationship are well aware of the challenges that life as a WWE star presents, safe in the knowledge that not only are they looking out for each other, but so are their peers and contemporaries.
