Here’s what happened with Ricky Saints after WWE NXT went off the air, ahead of Saints’ official move to SmackDown.

Saints was one of several main roster call-ups announced last week, with his debut announced for the May 1 edition of SmackDown.

The April 28 edition of NXT saw Saints come up short against Shiloh Hill, in the former NXT North American Champion’s final match ahead of his main roster move.

WWE NXT has now shared a video on Twitter of Ricky Saints emotionally addressing the crowd after NXT went off the air.

Sharing a sincere thank-you message, Saints said:

“February (11, 2025), I stood up there and I talked my stuff, and you guys welcomed me and you chanted Ricky Starks, and you made sure I remembered who I was.

“On the (25th), I had my first match, and then a few months after that, I won the North American Championship. I want you to understand something, I didn’t not know what I was getting myself into when I came here, but you welcomed me.

“I’d be lying if I said this was all a very easy transition, it was not and that is okay, that’s how it gets sometimes. But at the end of the day, I came out here, I busted my ass, I made sure that I did what was needed for business.

“You guys repaid me with love, with buying the shirts, with all of that. I don’t think that I would even get this far had it not been for the people here, and definitely for the people in the back.

“So, if this is the last time that you may see me in this NXT ring, then thank you from the bottom of my heart, and I would hope that this Friday on SmackDown, I would hope that you’d watch me there too.”

Saints joins the likes of Ethan Page, Joe Hendry, Sol Ruca, and Jacy Jayne, who all made their debuts on WWE Raw or SmackDown last week.

It will be interesting to see what Ricky Saints does on SmackDown. With the former AEW star being close friends with Cody Rhodes, we could see the newest SmackDown star either build an alliance with, or build to a match against, the current WWE Champion.
