In an interview with GiveMeSport.com, Triple H addressed John Cena’s recent comments about wanting to work with Velveteen Dream (who he called “the one”), Adam Cole and Ricochet in NXT. The NXT chief joked:
“I can’t afford to pay [Cena] on my NXT budget. I just can’t seem to hit John Cena’s level of payoff, but we’ll work on it if he wants to take a pay cut.”
HHH went on to say that his experiences working with Vince McMahon have taught him that you “never say never” in wrestling and that he was open to main roster talent working for NXT if the opportunity was right,
“Look, if John Cena comes to me and goes, ‘I have to do this at the next TakeOver with this person’, I’m like, ‘Alright, if I have to put you on there, I will'”
Shawn Michaels, who was part of the same interview, joked that Cena was such a top bloke that he would probably be willing to do it for free.
