Update On AEW Star Bringing Back Old Character AEW

A new report has provided an update on an AEW star bringing back an old character.

As previously reported, Paul Wight previously teased bringing back his Captain Insano character from the 1998 film, “The WaterBoy”, to AEW programming when asked about retirement in an interview.

Back in 2022, Wight made his first appearance in the role since the film during a music video by The Acclaimed on AEW Dynamite. This was made possible when All Elite Wrestling filed for a trademark of the “Captain Insano” name.

Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that there has been Captain Insano gear for a possible use of the character on television.

Wight hasn’t wrestled for AEW since March 2022, but he did tease the possibility of returning at AEW All In London from Wembley Stadium.

Despite recent additions to the card for this Sunday’s show, it doesn’t look like the former Big Show will have a bout on the event. There is a possibility of a special appearance, but nothing has been confirmed.

AEW All In London will be headlined by MJF defending the AEW World Championship against Adam Cole.

Ahead of their main event showdown, Better Than You Bay Bay will challenge Aussie Open for the ROH World Tag Team Titles on the Zero Hour pre-show.
