WWE Plans For Vacated Championship Confirmed

WWE Plans For Vacated Championship Confirmed WWE

WWE’s plans for a recently vacated championship have now been officially confirmed, with two former teammates set to clash one-on-one.

On Saturday, June 21 NXT General Manager Ava took to social media to announce that Noam Dar had been forced to relinquish the NXT Heritage Cup Championship due to injury.

In the post Ava confirmed that Stacks would compete in a match on this Tuesday’s NXT to determine a new champion, but at the time did not announce who his opponent would be.

Now, the day after Ava’s announcement we now know the identity of Stacks’ opponent, courtesy of his former stablemate Luca Crusifino.

Sharing a video to Twitter, Crusifino announced that his boss Tony D’Angelo would be the one to face-off with Stacks on Tuesday.

Referring to the announcement as proof of his loyalty to D’Angelo and The Family, Crusifino said:

“Good afternoon ladies and gentlemen I didn’t think this beautiful day could get much better, but it just did. And that’s because I just got off the phone with the GM Ava and she just told me some good news.

“She’s actually helping me do what I’ve been trying to do for the past few weeks and what I have been doing for almost two years and that is prove my loyalty to Tony D’Angelo.

“Now I understand what happened last week when I inadvertently struck Tony D’Angelo in the face but it was completely incidental. However, I take full responsibility for my actions and Tony you looked me in the eyes and you told me to prove my loyalty to you. So I did just that.

“Ava confirmed this Tony D’Angelo vs. Stacks Lorenzo this Tuesday for the held up NXT Heritage Cup. Now Tony if that doesn’t prove my loyalty to you, that of my character nothing will be good enough. Tony its time to put family business to bed.”

As Crusifino mentioned, his loyalty to D’Angelo has been under scrutiny in the months following Stacks betrayal of “The Don” at NXT Stand & Deliver.

When D’Angelo questioned Crusifino regarding his relationship with Stacks on this past Tuesday’s NXT, Crusifino accidentally struck his boss when involved in a fracas with the former “Underboss”.

While it remains to be seen where Crusifino’s loyalties will ultimately lie, Tuesday’s match will be Stacks’ chance to win his first-ever piece of singles gold in WWE.

D’Angelo on the other hand has won the NXT Heritage Cup Championship before, one of many accolades to his name during his four year run on the brand.
