Former women’s champion Mercedes Mone (fka Sasha Banks) fired back at someone who asked about why she left WWE.

Mone last wrestled for WWE at a house show on May 15, 2022, before walking out on the WWE Raw taping the following night, along with Trinity Fatu (Naomi).

While she was initially suspended, Mone finished up with WWE during her wrestling hiatus. She returned to the wrestling world at January’s NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 17 event, and has only wrestled for Bushiroad’s NJPW and STARDOM companies since.

Footage has now emerged of Mone responding to rumors about her WWE departure at her signing table at New York Comic Con, which you can watch below.

When someone stated that she left WWE due to creative issues, Mercedes replied:

“Is that the reason? Oh that’s what you read, but you weren’t there!”

Mercedes refused to say the real reason when asked.

The former IWGP Women’s Champion finished the interaction by telling the person to keep reading his ‘fictional books’.

Mone hasn’t wrestled since facing Willow Nightingale for the vacant NJPW STRONG Women’s Title at NJPW STRONG Resurgence in May.

Mone broke her ankle during this match, and has been recovering from the injury since then.
