Who Produced Bray Wyatt Tribute Segment & Match On SmackDown Revealed WWE

Some backstage news has emerged from SmackDown confirming who produced the Bray Wyatt tribute segment and match last night (August 25).

The show opened with a 10-bell salute to both Wyatt and Terry Funk, and finished with a big tribute to Wyatt as well.

That came in the form of a promo from LA Knight, a match between Knight and Finn Balor – Knight being Wyatt’s last ever opponent and Balor being the first opponent of The Fiend – and then the show went off the air with Wyatt’s lantern in the ring fading out for one last time.

Fightful Select reports that both the opening Bray Wyatt tribute, and the ending of the show with the Knight promo and match against Balor, were produced by Michael Hayes, who had Robert Roode shadowing him.

Roode has been shadowing full-time producers like Hayes for the past few weeks.

More often than not, Hayes is the producer for major segments involving the likes of the Bloodline and Cody Rhodes.

After the deaths of both Bray Wyatt, real name Windham Rotunda, and Terry Funk, Hayes had tweeted:

Oh man, so sorry to hear about Funks passing yesterday, but, U try and comfort yourself by saying what a great life Terry lived….I just heard of Bray passing and I am sorry, I have no words except STUNNED!! Way to early!! Prayers and Condolences to his family, friends and fans!!

As for the rest of the night, the match between Grayson Waller and Rey Mysterio was produced by Jamie Noble, IYO SKY vs Zelina Vega was produced by Kenny Dykstra and Molly Holly, and Cody Rhodes’ Terry Funk tribute and the Terry Funk Hardcore tag match between the Street Profits and Brawling Brutes were produced by Jason Jordan.

There was a pre-show dark match between Cameron Grimes and Odyssey Jones that was produced by Adam Pearce, and two post-show dark matches that were both produced by Jason Jordan, those being Matt Riddle vs Solo Sikoa, and Cody Rhodes vs Austin Theory.

After SmackDown last night, several WWE stars got matching tattoos of Wyatt’s logo.

WWE has added the following note to the item descriptions for Wyatt merch on the WWE Shop website:

In the wake of Bray Wyatt’s death, WWE will donate all net proceeds to support JoJo Offerman and his children.

On Thursday, August 24, Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful reported:

I was given permission to reveal that earlier this year Windham Rotunda (Bray Wyatt) got COVID that exacerbated a heart issues.

There was a lot of positive progress towards a return and his recovery. Unfortunately today he suffered a heart attack and passed away.

Our thoughts and condolences continue to be with the families, friends, and anyone affected by the passings of Windham Rotunda and Terry Funk.
