WWE AAA has announced the ‘Serenata for El Grande Americano’ will now take place today, May 22, following the arrest of Ludwig Kaiser.

The event was originally scheduled for May 21 but was announced as being canceled on the day due to Kaiser being booked at Orange County Corrections the previous day stemming from an incident in April.

The official WWE AAA social media page announced:

Kaiser, real name Marcel Barthel, who plays the role of El Grande Americano in WWE and AAA, handed himself in on May 20 after finding out he had an arrest warrant stemming from an alleged incident in April.

The accusation is that Barthel punched a man after the man said to Barthel “please have some manners” after Barthel was being “uncontrollably intimate” and “aggressively kissing” a woman in an elevator while the man was in the elevator with them.

Barthel pleaded not guilty and his attorneys filed a request to allow to travel internationally as he of course has the big mask vs mask match coming up at WWE AAA Noche De Los Grandes against The Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable) in Monterrey, Mexico on May 30.

It was noted today that Assistant State Attorney Shaylynne Kotch had indicated no objection to the request. Barthel has no prior criminal record and traveled back to the US from Mexico immediately upon finding out about his warrant.

We’ll continue to keep you posted with further updates on the situation as they emerge.
