Kaiser, real name Marcel Barthel, who plays the role of El Grande Americano in WWE and AAA, was booked yesterday on charges of battery from an incident in April.

Arrest documents describe the allegation as stemming from a situation in an elevator where Barthel was being “uncontrallably intimate” and “aggresively kissing” a woman before a man, the accuser, allegedly said “please have some manners,” at which point the accuser claims Barthel punched him multiple times.

Barthel’s attorneys have filed a request for him to be allowed to travel internationally as he has the big mask vs mask match coming up at WWE AAA Noche De Los Grandes on May 30 in Monterrey, Mexico against The Original El Grande Americano (Chad Gable).

There has been no additional word from WWE and/or AAA in regards to the status of the mask vs mask match, as it likely now depends on the decision that’s made in regards to whether he’s able to travel or not.

Barthel was said to have been in Mexico, likely ahead of today’s planned ‘Serenata for El Grande Americano’ event, when he found out there was a warrant for his arrest and immediately traveled back to the US to turn himself in yesterday.

Barthel has pleaded not guilty to the battery charges.

We’ll continue to keep you posted with any further updates on this story as they emerge.
