‘Obviously I Still Get Nervous, But I’m In This Position For A Reason & They See Something In Me’ – Sol Ruca Addresses WWE Journey & Adjusting From NXT To Main Roster

Jamie has been covering the world of wrestling for four years and currently holds the position of Assistant Editor of WrestleTalk.com. During his time working for WrestleTalk.com he has written and published over 4,000 news and feature articles covering events and happenings from WWE, AEW, TNA and a variety of international and independent wrestling promotions.

Sol Ruca has addressed her rapid ascent up the ladder in WWE since making her debut four years ago, as well as the biggest changes she’s had to deal with since moving from NXT to Monday Night Raw.

Arriving in WWE in 2022 with a background in tumbling and gymnastics, rather than pro wrestling, Sol Ruca has emerged as one of the brightest young stars in the company and achieved massive success thus far given her lack of experience.

Almost four years exactly since her first WWE NXT match in June 2022, Ruca is now a member of the Raw roster, and set to challenge former WrestleMania main evener Becky Lynch at this weekend’s Saturday Night’s Main Event on May 23.

During an interview with Ringer Wrestling ahead of Saturday Night’s Main Event, Ruca explained how NXT has helped prepare for life on the main roster, after being asked what the biggest changes between the two have been thus far.

Ruca said:

“Honestly just being out there in that kind of environment, like out in the ring with that many people, a whole different viewership.

“We’re doing pretty much the same things, and NXT has definitely prepared me for this, but we are pretty much starting over in a sense, like this is a whole new ball game. I think that’s probably the biggest change.

“Even just being out there for promos and like talking out there. I’m not used to being in that kind of environment, I’m used to the small NXT arena where I know where to look, and now it’s like every week’s different.

“So I think that just having a change every single week is pretty different. But it’s definitely manageable and NXT has definitely prepared me for this.”

When asked whether she feels her journey in WWE over the past four years has been moving at a logical pace, Ruca admitted that, while time in wrestling moves fast, her time on WWE Raw has allowed her to slow down and have a few “oh s**t” moments, where she realizes how far she’s come.

Ruca continued:

“I think yes and no. I feel like I get caught up in this wrestling bubble that is moving so so fast that sometimes it’s hard to really take in the moments and realize how far I’ve come. But I feel like these past few weeks, since the main roster, the pace is a bit slower and the in-ring promos, you have more time to listen to the crowd and be in the moment.

“I feel like I definitely had those opportunities to be like ‘Oh s**t, this is it, I’m really doing this.’ And I am ready for this, obviously I still get nervous, but I’m in this position for a reason and they see something in me, so I’m just here for a wild ride and I’m excited.”

Despite Becky Lynch making it clear that her and Ruca’s match at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event would not be for her Women’s Intercontinental Championship, WWE’s official website later advertised it as a title bout.

This led to Lynch calling out the “misinformation” and confirming that it will indeed be a non-title bout this Saturday in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
