‘I Will Go F**king Broke Before I Ever Go Back To Wrestling’ – Former WWE Star Shoots Down Potential In-Ring Return

A former WWE star has made it emphatically clear that they will never make a return to the wrestling world.

Last competing at WrestleMania 35 in April 2019, Batista has gone on to enjoy a successful Hollywood career, which has seen him star in a number of blockbuster movies.

A recent talk with W.O.L.F. Gyms saw Batista compare being an actor to being a WWE star, noting the ‘grind’ involved in both but how it was worse in wrestling, particularly in his early years.

Batista would also address the possibility of making a return to the wrestling world, not mincing his words as he said:

“People always ask me why I got into wrestling, and I always tell them I hate answering this because it’s not a glamorous answer. I got into wrestling because I wanted to make money. ‘Cause I was f**king desperate, I was poor, I had two kids and not a dime to my name. After a while I became obsessed with it, and I would have wrestled for free because I just loved it so much. Making a good living (with) wrestling was kind of a side effect.

“I left the company on good terms; I left at the height of my career. It was hard as f**k to walk away, ‘cause I walked away and I went broke. It was nice having that check come in every week, but I walked away because the company was heading in a direction that just wasn’t right for me. It worked out; I was lucky it worked out.

“I walked away as champ, I walked away on top. It’s hard to walk away. Most people don’t walk away. And this is why it’s such a running joke when wrestlers retire, because they never retire. They retire like five times. There’s people they always thought throughout these years that I would come back, I would come out of retirement, and I told them over and over I won’t. I had a f**king storybook ending and I won’t s**t on it. I’ll go do manual labor before I tarnish that. If I go broke again, I know what it’s like to be poor. I don’t like being poor, but I know what it’s like, and I will go f**king broke and be poor before I ever go back to wrestling.

“I will never wrestle again. I went out the way I wanted, (with) the guy I wanted to go out with. It’s never going to be that good again and I just won’t tarnish it.”

Batista’s last match saw him lose to Triple H in a No Holds Barred match at WrestleMania 35.

Three Top Stars, Three Different Journeys

Between The Rock, John Cena and Batista, WWE fans have seen three stars rise to the top of the movie world in the same way they did on Raw and SmackDown.

Of the three, The Rock has become one of the highest-grossing actors of all-time thanks to a prolific movie output, while being the only one not to have retired.

All three have movies scheduled in their future, with Batista returning to the big screen for the much-anticipated Highlander remake, adopting the role of The Kurgan, previously portrayed by Clancy Brown, among other projects to which he is attached. That’s not to undermine his performance as Drax in the Marvel Cinematic Universe or Glossu Rabban in Dune: Part One & Two, adding new levels to his filmography.

Cena’s future will see him star in The Janson Directive, based on the Robert Ludlum thriller, alongside Matchbox: The Movie, based on the popular toys, and One Attempt Remaining, a comedy. It’s highly likes that fans can expect more for his turn as Peacemaker in the DC movie franchise, too. Add to this his ongoing association with WWE and his involvement in the John Cena Classic, and it’s clear he may have retired, but the relationship still bears fruit.

For The Rock, his recent run in WWE may have come to an end, but he remains linked to the company via its parent, TKO, sitting on the board of directors. A respected business figure with many ventures to his name, Dwayne Johnson recently started in the live-action Moana and will return to the big screen for Jumanji: Open World.

There have been, and continue to be, many WWE stars who venture to Hollywood, yet these three have been arguably the most successful.
