The role for CM Punk at WrestleMania 40 has been confirmed on WWE Raw during a heated segment featuring Drew McIntyre and Seth Rollins.
While CM Punk first came out to an adoring Chicago crowd and took aim at his general adversaries, things would get more specific when it came to two big names.
CM Punk referenced Drew McIntyre and the Scot appeared.
The pair would go on to have a contemptuous exchange where Punk continued to try and get McIntyre into the ring but instead, McIntyre sat down on the top of the commentary desk.
Drew McIntyre would go on to tell CM Punk, “Since you’re only good at running your mouth,” perhaps he should be on commentary for his WrestleMania 40 match against Seth Rollins.
With Seth Rollins taking time to call both Punk and McIntyre ‘children’ and ‘trolls’, he left it up to a poll of the city of Chicago whether or not Punk should be on commentary for WrestleMania 40.
While Chicago chanted, “Referee!” which Rollins rebuffed as noting Punk’s injured arm was his ‘counting arm’, Punk dropped to the mat to demonstrate that he was able to count with the other.
Seth Rollins would go on to say that he didn’t care what Punk did at WrestleMania 40, however by the end of the segment there was a resolution.
CM Punk confirmed that he would be on commentary for WrestleMania 40 and left the ring, demanding that the back play his music.
However McIntyre didn’t want to let Punk get the last word and instead did get in the ring to call out Punk and instead, got blindsided by a massive kick to the face from Rollins.
The segment would end with the WWE World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins leaving past CM Punk on the ramp as the feuds for Punk continue even in his in-ring absence.
Also in the promo, Punk referenced both Jim Cornette and Vince McMahon. You can click here to read more about that.
Elsewhere on tonight’s WWE Raw, an ‘unsettling’ and unannounced appearance by the Final Boss, The Rock, during an in-ring segment featuring Cody Rhodes which started the show.
