Former WWE Star Reveals Baffling Vince McMahon Creative Decisions WWE

A former WWE star has spoken about baffling creative decisions that saw him hop from one brand to another seemingly at random.

Gene Snitsky stood out as a big man with an unconventional look and would make his WWE debut in September 2004 on Raw.

During a feud with Kane, his most prominent story, he would inadvertently caused the abortion of Lita’s in-story pregnancy to the Big Red Machine.

As Atletifo notes:

“Snitsky would proclaim that “it wasn’t my fault” before regularly punting fake babies into the crowd, an odd way to try to prove his innocence.”

Going on to be a “hired gun”, the rest of Snitsky’s time would be spend working with Eric Bischoff and Edge though, very much like his feud with Kane, it wouldn’t lead to anything.

In 2007, however, he was reborn on ECW as a madman, complete with shaved hair and eyebrows and looking generally dirty.

Speaking to Mike Chioda on Monday Mailbag, Snitsky revealed how this led to a confusing time for the big man, saying:

“I just remember Vince coming to me. [He said] ‘Hey, man. You’re doing such a great job for us. I’m going to move you to ECW and we’re going to have you like, just be this killer heel. But, I want you to go shave all your hair off and go see the makeup lady and do something with your teeth to make them look like, dirty and grimy.’

Having been given a verbal thumbs-up from Vince McMahon, Snitsky would move to ECW and make that is home.

Plans would, however, change when be bumped into Stephanie McMahon, saying:

“I’ve got all these guys I’m just mowing over and then — I don’t know, three, four, five months later or whatever it was — Stephanie stops me in the hall. ‘Hey, Gene, my dad just loves what you’re doing on ECW. We’re going to draft you back to Raw’

“I don’t understand it then, I don’t understand it now.”

Snitsky would see out the rest of his time in WWE on the red brand before being granted his release in December 2008.

He would head to the independent circuit and appear for TNA before stating he planned to retire in 2018.

On the independent circuit, he would hold the WXW Ultimate Heavyweight, Heavyweight and Tag Team Championships and be inducted into the WXW Hall of Fame in 2013.
