A WWE legend has called MJF “the most modern day Ric Flair” he’s seen.
On the October 25 edition of AEW Dynamite, two-time WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair made his debut with the promotion as Tony Khan’s gift for Sting following his announcement of his upcoming retirement match.
The following week, All Elite Wrestling announced that Flair had signed a multi-year deal with the promotion.
In a recent interview, Flair said that he wants to have a promo battle with the current AEW World Champion MJF.
Appearing on T95 The Rock Station, Paul Wight compared Maxwell Jacob Friedman to “The Nature Boy.” He said:
“When I look at MJF, because MJF is naturally cocky, you know he’s a hard worker, he’s got that swag to him, he understands performing, he was a child star on Broadway, so he’s got some chops, got some talent,”
“But he understands who he is, he understands what works. To me, there’s only one Ric Flair, but I look at MJF, he’s the most modern-day Ric Flair that I’ve seen.”
“There’s heels that get heat and then there are guys like Ric Flair that you hate him, but then at the same time, you can’t wait to see what they say next … like Ric Flair, Roddy Piper.”
MJF is set to defend the AEW World Title against Daniel Garcia on the November 8 episode of AEW Dynamite.
If he is able to retain, Friedman will move on to defend his title against Jay White on November 18 at AEW Full Gear. For the full lineup for the event, click here.
