Big Clue That WWE Is Launching New Wrestling Show WWE

WWE have filed a trademark application linked to a recently introduced short match concept complete that was seen with new branding.

As previously reported, the December 15 episode of WWE SmackDown was preceded by two matches with “interesting branding” surrounding the ring.

It was noted that the matches featured wrestlers from other brands and the free agent pool took place with ‘WWE Speed’ logos on the ring, and five-minute timer counting down during the bout.

At the time of the report, it wasn’t clear whether it was branding for a new show or just an element to be used for dark matches.

On December 17, we got one step closer to seeing what the plans for WWE Speed are with a filing with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.

According to the filing, World Wrestling Entertainment LLC want to trademark the term WWE Speed, with the entry reading:

Mark For: WWE SPEED™ trademark registration is intended to cover the categories of entertainment services, namely, a show about professional wrestling; entertainment services, namely, the production and exhibition of professional wrestling events rendered through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing wrestling news and information through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment through broadcast media including television and distributed via various platforms across multiple forms of transmission media; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information.

The filing is currently “awaiting assignment to an examining attorney”.

Footage showing the WWE Speed branding along with Axiom and Cedric Alexander in action was shared by UltWresTrivia on social media and can be seen below.

According to Wrestling News Source, Bronson Reed also faced Nathan Frazier in a WWE Speed match.

Corey Graves and Kevin Patrick were reportedly on commentary for both the matches.
