A new report has revealed a potential WWE NXT main roster call-up that is now “no longer considered” for the upcoming 2024 WWE Draft.
Following WrestleMania 40, WWE announced that the 2024 Draft will start on the April 26 edition of SmackDown and continue on the April 29 episode of Monday Night Raw.
Since then, various stars of the NXT brand have been discussed and speculated as making the move to Raw and SmackDown. Among those names mentioned is former NXT North American Champion Trick Williams.
Fightful Select (subscription required) provided an update, noting that NXT sources have indicated that barring a last minute change of mind, Trick Williams is no longer under consideration to be drafted to the main roster in the 2024 Draft.
However, main roster officials still remain high on Trick despite his inclusion in the 2024 WWE Draft not being discussed at this time.
As far as a reason for Williams not being called up, sources indicate that the plans are for Trick to be featured as a focal point of NXT programming following the Draft.
NXT sources also noted that Williams has long been seen as a future star by NXT officials dating back to 2022.
The report notes that several NXT talent have indicated that Trick has been described as a quick learner, has a strong work ethic and was described as “an exceptional talent” to work with.
Trick Williams last wrestled in a win over Carmelo Hayes in a Steel Cage Match on the April 16 edition of WWE NXT.
Williams is now set to challenge Ilja Dragunov for the NXT Championship on next Tuesday’s NXT Spring Breakin Night One show.
WrestleTalk will provide any further updates on Trick Williams’ NXT status when they become available.
