Though it’s not looking good for the red brand, did ‘Team Blue’ manage to impress?
Nope.
Two weeks ago (May 8) SmackDown Live posted its lowest total since Halloween last year, with only 2.293 million viewers.
Last week (May 15) though, it managed a slight increase, posting 2.298 people tuning in. This was likely due to attractions including AJ Styles vs. Shinsuke Namakura, and Andrade Almas’ debut.
And much like Raw, that temporary rise didn’t last long.
A few significant things were announced before SmackDown this week:
- The New Day would reveal which member will enter the men’s Money in the Bank Ladder match, which they didn’t.
- Shinsuke Nakamura was going to announce the stipulation for his WWE Championship match against defending champion AJ Styles, which turned out to be a Last Man Standing match.
- Jeff Hardy vs. Daniel Bryan with the winner facing Samoa Joe in a Money in the Bank qualifier next week.
Despite this, SmackDown Live posted a worse figure than two weeks ago, with only 2.119 million people tuning in, which is actually exactly the same figure as October 31.
Much like recent weeks, it’s a shame, because SmackDown has been quite good recently.
