It was a homecoming for Sami Zayn as WWE Raw took place in his home of Montreal, Quebec, Canada on April 15, 2024.
The main event of last night’s WWE Raw saw Sami Zayn defend the Intercontinental Championship against Chad Gable, with that whole match below this news story.
With Zayn retaining, the Intercontinental Champion celebrated with his wife who was at ringside.
It was at this moment that Gable’s frustrations took hold and he attacked Zayn, throwing him back into the ring and brutalizing him further.
Favoring the leg injured at the hands of Gable, Zayn would address his hometown crowd in a post-match promo that can also be seen below this news story.
To a crowd that was clearly behind the champion, Zayn initially addressed the crowd in French, saying (translated by Pat Laprade):
“I won’t let this prick steal our night!”
He would then continue in English, saying:
“Chad, I actually kinda get it, I understand.
“Now I understand how it felt for you to let your family, to let down your friends, to let everyone down because, guess what… this is my city.
“These are my people. Those are my friends and that is my family.
“Injuries heel, people. I just want you to know that as soon as this gets better, I’m coming back to kick your b*tch ass.”
