WWE star Ricochet has targeted a new champion following a major title change at this past weekend’s WrestleMania 4o event.
During Saturday’s WrestleMania 40 Night One show, Sami Zayn dethroned Gunther, defeating the Ring General to win the Intercontinental Championship.
With Zayn ending the longest Intercontinental Championship reign in WWE history, there has been a lot of speculation about his first feud as champion.
Ricochet has now reacted to Bronson Reed teasing an Intercontinental Title rivalry. In response to Reed pointing out that he has pinned Zayn in recent weeks, Ricochet teased:
I beat him FOR the IC title. 👀
Ricochet notably defeated Sami Zayn for the Intercontinental Championship on SmackDown in March 2022. A few months later on the June 10, 2022 edition of SmackDown, Gunther pinned Ricochet to win the title.
This is the title reign that Sami Zayn only just ended by defeating Gunther at WrestleMania 40, 666 days later.
When a Twitter user argued that Ricochet defeated a completely different version of Sami, Ricochet replied:
Tbh I’m a completely different Ricochet.
Sami Zayn earned the opportunity to face Gunther for the IC Title at WrestleMania by winning a Gauntlet #1 contender’s match on the March 11 edition of Raw.
While Ricochet also competed in this Gauntlet match, he had been eliminated ahead of Zayn entering the match, so the two stars didn’t face off.
