A WWE star has commented ahead of their first match on NXT in five years.
For the first time since October 31, 2023 the WWE Women’s Tag Team Titles will be defended on NXT as The Kabuki Warriors face off with Lyra Valkyria & Tatum Paxley at NXT Roadblock on March 5.
According to a recent report, the match is being met with a “lot of positivity” backstage in WWE, with officials reportedly pushing for the tag titles to be defended on the brand more often.
While this is notable, and a great coup for NXT’s women’s division, the match will also no doubt hold some significance to the current champions Asuka & Kairi Sane.
Both Asuka & Sane enjoyed great success on NXT early in their WWE careers, with The Empress of Tomorrow still holding the record for the longest NXT Women’s Championship reign.
Sane was no slouch either, holding the same title in 2018 before moving on to the main roster a year later.
Ahead of the special occasion Sane took to Twitter, seemingly very excited about the return to her former home, posting a picture of the official match graphic for Roadblock, as well as the following message:
NXT!NXT!!NXT!!!
Rather fittingly Sane’s last NXT appearance also came in a Women’s Tag Team Championship match – with herself and Asuka defending the titles against Tegan Nox and current Damage CTRL teammate Dakota Kai on October 30, 2019.
Speaking of which, Asuka has now commented on Kai’s recent betrayal of Bayley on WWE SmackDown (March 1).
