WWE officials are said to be high on a rising star, believing him to be a potential future WWE Champion in the company.
Oba Femi secured victory in the NXT Men’s Breakout Tournament back at NXT New Year’s Evil, where he defeated Riley Osbourne in the final.
He then cashed in the contract to defeat Dragon Lee to capture the NXT North American Championship after only five matches on the brand.
Oba has quickly become a popular member of the roster, with fans taking to his intimidating presence, and it’s not just fans that have taken a shine to him.
Per Fightful Select (subscription required), officials in NXT have been very impressed with Femi’s performances since he became the North American Champion, with one source noting that he is expected to be do big things in WWE, and someone the company views as a future WWE Champion.
Officials have been surprised by Femi’s development in the short time he has been a part of NXT television, with him being viewed as the ‘total package’ commonly backstage.
One source noted that the company sees him as a source of untapped potential, and do not have any plans to rush him to the main roster despite his popularity.
