WWE Star Pays Homage To AEW Star On SmackDown

WWE Star Pays Homage To AEW Star On SmackDown WWE

A WWE star has paid homage to an AEW star on tonight’s edition of SmackDown (June 23) although would end the segment having been assaulted.

After Andrade El Idolo made his big return on Saturday’s debut episode of AEW Collision with a nod to his wife, WWE star Charlotte Flair, now Flair has returned the favor.

In a match on tonight’s SmackDown, in a last pit stop before London, Charlotte Flair took on Lacey Evans in a match.

During the relatively one-sided match (with Charlotte dominating throughout), Charlotte took a moment of rest in honor of her husband, Andrade El Idolo.

Taking moment to pause in the match, in Andrade’s signature style (albeit not in the ring ropes,) Charlotte was entirely tranquilo before wrapping up the victory.

However the celebration was short lived because the match was barely over when she was attacked after the match by her opponent next week, Asuka, while still holding the Figure 8 leg lock at the onset of the assault.

Before their big matchup next week on SmackDown in London, England the night before the premium live event, Money in the Bank, Asuka stood tall after the attack.

In a backstage segment directly after the match, Adam Pearce informed Bianca Belair that she would be banned from ringside next week on SmackDown.

Elsewhere on tonight’s show,  a fan favorite star made a big return from injury ahead of anticipated schedule and WWE unified a Championship.
