WWE Star Gives Emotional Response To Former Tag Team Partner’s Release WWE

A WWE star has opened up regarding the release of their former tag team partner from the company.

In early May, Cora Jade was among several names released from the company across both the main roster and NXT.

Throughout Jade’s four year spell in WWE between 2021-2025, she was most associated with Roxanne Perez – with the pair winning NXT Women’s Tag Team gold together, as well as feuding.

Speaking to Joseph Stazewski of the New York Post, Perez opened up regarding Jade’s release – revealing how much she helped her gain confidence in her character during their shared time in NXT.

Perez said:

“I absolutely love Cora so much. And, yeah, we definitely talked about making it to the WWE together before we even made it, and being able to share all of those moments that we were able to share together from her last (NXT) match, being to tag with me was really cool.

“And I feel like, when I look back at my NXT career — oh, that kind of made me cry — I feel like, when I look back at my NXT career, I just see Cora and how much she helped me, how much she helped me with my character work, and to be comfortable with who I am. My heel turn was close to us teaming up again together.

So being able to do all of these promos with her and these backstages really brought out a different side of me and a more comfortable side, and a side that I had never really shown to the world or the crowd before.

“So yeah, I absolutely love Cora, and it’s hard to do it without her now, but I know she’s gonna absolutely kill it in whatever she decides to do. I think everybody should definitely keep an eye on Elayna Black because she’s gonna do some really cool things.”

Jade – who has now returned to her pre-WWE name of Elayna Black – today shared a video in which she bid the Cora Jade character farewell, as her return to in-ring action approaches.

Perez on the other hand is now officially a member of the Monday Night Raw roster after being called up from NXT, and is set to compete in this year’s Money in the Bank ladder match this coming Saturday (June 7).
