Vince McMahon Yelled At Released WWE Star Over Controversial Match Finish WWE

Former WWE star Mace, who was released in September, has recalled why Vince McMahon yelled at him at WWE Hell in a Cell in 2019.

In a Q&A on Reddit, Mace (Mase Madden) and Mansoor both answered questions from the r/SquaredCircle community.

One such question in the Q&A was “favorite match you commentated?”

Under the name Dio Maddin, Mace was a commentator on Raw alongside Vic Joseph and Jerry Lawler.

The October 2019 edition of WWE Hell in a Cell would see him on commentary for the controversial match between Bray Wyatt and Seth Rollins.

Mace named this as his most memorable match to commentate, saying:

“Bray and Seth HIAC was certainly the most memorable.”

He would also reveal Vince McMahon’s reaction to him doing his commentary, adding:

“I remember Vince yelling at me to stop trying to explain the finish and then the crowd threw trash at us as we left lmaooo.”

The match wasn’t well received and Rollins spoke about his reaction to the finish in September 2021 on The Broken Skull Sessions.

He would say that he was “ready to strangle Vince McMahon” with Tyson Kidd being in place to hold him back.

The match scored a shocking -2 stars from Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer.

The final moments of the match saw Rollins stomp The Fiend before hitting him with a pedigree, steel chair, ladder, toolbox and a sledgehammer.

At that point, the ref called for the bell, with Wyatt being stretchered away only to attack Rollins after the match.

The fans were as unimpressed as Rollins and Meltzer, jeering and chanting “AEW”.

The build up to the match was far more engaging, with many highlights on the WWE YouTube channel.

As for the match itself, there’s a clip below, which is one of the few from the match that WWE has shared.
