“Respect is a word that has lost its significance as of late”
And so began the theme of the Triple H and Shawn Michaels promo that opened Monday Night Raw: respect.
Triple H talked a lot about respect, as did Michaels, who said he respected what The Undertaker used to represent. The word was used as a way to get Michaels ‘off the hook’, so to speak, for what was about to come, as Michaels had previously claimed to have stayed retired out of respect for The Undertaker and for “the system”.
After footage aired of the Super Showdown beating both men had taken following Triple H’s win over The Undertaker, Michaels said he had spent the entire long flight home thinking about what had happened and about how for the past eight years he had honoured his word for a respect that never existed at all.

Then, as Shawn was getting off the plane, Triple H looked him in the eye and asked him: “Are you ready?”
Triple H then stated that the question was not for Shawn, but for the Brothers of Destruction, and that he was asking if they were ready to face DX at Crown Jewel.
Michaels signed off by saying he had no respect at all with the following line: “If you’re not down with that, I’ve got two words for ya!” Both men then ripped off their shirts to reveal brand new DX shirts and did the old DX pose. Handy that they had those made, just in case . . .
So there it is, the rumours and speculation were true: Shawn Michaels will come out of retirement in Saudi Arabia at Crown Jewel to team with Triple H against The Undertaker and Kane. Who could have ever predicted that match would take place in 2018? Never say never in wrestling.
