Cody Rhodes tweeted earlier today that he will be unable to defend his IWGP United States Championship tomorrow at ROH Global Wars in Toronto due to an injury.
Cody was scheduled to defend his championship against Beretta on Sunday night, but will now be unable to compete. He is suffering from what is believed to be a meniscus injury, but the severity of the injury is not currently known. He noted that he will be having an MRI this week to find out just how severe the injury is and what the next steps will be.
Sadly folks I will not be able to wrestle tomorrow in Toronto. I will still be at the pre-show meet/greet to say hello to everybody
ROH & I will find a suitable replacement for the match. I’m extremely sorry. I’ll be able to confirm the extent of the issue after an MRI this week

The ‘American Nightmare’ tweeted on Friday night following the ROH Global Wars event in Buffalo, New York, that he heard a loud pop in his knee, which apparently occurred when he was teasing throwing his t-shirt into the crowd prior to the match.
Going from one side of the crowd to the other last night, teasing a t-shirt toss of all things…heard a loud POP in my knee. Terryfing.
Hoping it was just a lil’ meniscus and Sunday I can still deliver. 🤞

The match would have been Cody’s first title defense since winning the championship from Juice Robinson at Fighting Spirit Unleashed in September. At the time he won the title, he was the IWGP United States Champion, the NWA Worlds Heavyweight Champion, and ROH World Six-Man Tag Team Champion.
Since then, he has lost the NWA Title back to Nick Aldis, has lost the ROH Six- Man Titles to the Kingdom, and now he has a possible knee injury. It has been a rough month for Cody Rhodes and we here at WrestleTalk wish him a speedy recovery.
