In the past few days and weeks, there has been a lot of speculation that WWE stars are planning on either leaving at the end of their contracts, or requesting their release. The problem for those asking for their release however, seems to be that WWE are not planning on granting anyone’s release any time soon.
We reported yesterday that WWE are willing to offer anyone who can prove they have a contract offer from a rival promotion big contracts to stop them from signing. They are also pushing people who have been rumoured to be unhappy in the company in the hope it will make them stay.
Both The Revival and Maria and Mike Kanellis have supposedly made it clear that they want to leave the company, but neither pairing have as yet been granted their release.
This, according to the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, is due to WWE not wanting anyone to leave and head straight for All Elite Wrestling. WWE have the budget to be able to sign and hold onto as many people as possible without having to put them in storylines, something other promotions simply can’t do.
So for the time being it looks very much like stars will simply have to sit and wait for their contracts to expire before they head elsewhere.
