New Japan Pro Wrestling has announced that David Finlay has suffered a shoulder injury. As a result, the injury will be enough to keep Finlay from competing in the upcoming New Japan Cup.
David Finlay took to Twitter to provide an update on the situation. He noted that he dislocated his shoulder, however he had relocated it successfully. Despite this, the injury will force him to miss time in the ring.
Thanks to everyone for all the positive vibes! I did dislocated my shoulder last night but it’s back in now. I’ll see a doctor when I’m home to see what the damage is but hopefully it’s nothing too serious.
Thanks again to everyone.

The injury occurred at the NJPW/ROH Honor Rising Night Two event. Finlay and Juice Robinson were wrestling The Briscoes and Finlay was hurt when he attempted a top rope uppercut. He was pinned after a Froggy Elbow from Mark Briscoe.
Finlay was scheduled to face Hiroyoshi Tenzan in the first round of the New Japan Cup. Due to Finlay’s injury, New Japan will be forced to find a replacement for the upcoming tournament. The match with Tenzan was scheduled to take place on March 10th.
The winner of the New Japan Cup will receive an IWGP Heavyweight Championship match against Jay White at G1 Supercard.
