Earlier today, WWE officially confirmed that NXT will be moving to the USA Network on Wednesday 18, September. The new show will run for two hours every week.
It was then revealed by Vince McMahon that the WWE Network will continue to show NXT, but one day later on a Thursday evening.
Many people were concerned about the future of NXT Takeovers when NXT’s move to the USA Network was reported late last week.
With Vince McMahon reportedly increasing in influence with NXT now it is moving to a major cable network, it is believed that we may have seen the last exceptional Takeover event.
Irrespective of the quality of Takeover events, WWE has confirmed that NXT’s special events will continue to stream live exclusively on the WWE Network, just like main roster pay-per-views.
WWE issued the following press release today, confirming the news
“Following NXT’s growth in popularity, its weekly Wednesday night show will expand its reach and now air LIVE on USA Network at 8/7C starting September 18.
The new two-hour NXT weekly show will also be available on demand on WWE Network every Thursday night beginning at 8/7C. NXT TakeOver events will continue to stream live exclusively on WWE Network.”
