Earlier today, WWE confirmed reports made late last week that NXT will be moving to the USA Network next month. It was also revealed that the new weekly show, which will kick off on September 18th, will run for two hours.
It was believed that Vince McMahon would have an increased involvement in NXT. With the black and gold brand moving to the USA Network, a major cable channel, it was reported that there is no way Vince would take a “hands-off” approach.
However, Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that their sources have said that NXT will continue to put out the same product as it has done for the last five years. The show will also still be run by Triple H.
“Sources tell us despite speculation, the current plan is for NXT to remain as the same show it’s been for years… Bottom line, if you’re worried about losing the workrate heavy product that’s been spearheaded by Triple H for years … don’t be.”
The report then states that WWE only decided to move NXT to the USA Network to attract more viewers:
“Moving to USA Network was only done to get more eyes on the product.”
It was even reported by Dave Meltzer on the latest Wrestling Observer Radio that Vince McMahon likely won’t even be present at every single one of the NXT TV tapings:
“Vince probably won’t be at the [NXT] show — that doesn’t mean that he’s not going to have any input, but he’s probably not going to be at the shows because — I don’t know what’s gonna happen with Triple H, he’s probably going to go out of his mind he might miss some SmackDowns.”
This is very much good news. NXT puts out an exceptional product, so it is great to see what the distinct feel of the show won’t be drastically changing.
