This week on NXT, Adam Cole defeat Matt Riddle in a thrilling encounter to retain his NXT Championship.
Adam cole picked up the win after blasting Riddle with a cast protecting his right wrist. He then hit the “Original Bro” with the Last Shot to walk away with his championship.
Dave Meltzer noted on the Wrestling Observer Radio that Adam Cole legitimately injured his wrist a month ago, and that is why he is wearing the protective cast.
Meltzer claims that the Undisputed Era leader shouldn’t have even wrestled this week:
“I don’t know if it is really a broken wrist, but he was really hurt about a month ago and that’s why he has not been wrestling. So, he does have a wrist injury. I’m not sure what the extent of it is, but I was under the impression that he should not be wrestling right now, but he was.”
If this report is to be believed, then I expect Adam Cole to not be wrestling over the next few weeks on NXT TV, perhaps even until NXT TakeOver: War Games III next month.
It is no surprise that NXT wanted Cole to wrestle through his injury in the beginnings of the Wednesday Night Wars with AEW.
