Following his sensational return at the Royal Rumble this past weekend, it was reported that Edge had signed a new three-year deal with WWE.
According to Alex McCarthy of TalkSport, Edge’s new contract is worth $3million a year, making him one of the highest earners in the company overnight.
McCarthy also reports that he will get this money as long as he competes three times a year. He is reportedly committed to five matches a year, with the first being WWE Royal Rumble, and a total of 25 appearances.
WrestleVotes had initially reported the three year deal was worth “significant money”, and they weren’t wrong.
Bill Pritchard of WrestleZone later reported that Edge had also been in talks with AEW over a return, and that he may have used this as leverage to get more money out of WWE.
A source reportedly told McCarthy “Edge and Beth [Phoenix] were smiling ear-to-ear” with the deal.
Edge appeared on Raw following his Rumble return, and was viciously attacked by Randy Orton, presumably setting up a WrestleMania 36 feud between the two men.
