One of my favourite parts of The Revival’s WWE main roster run was their partnership with multi-time World Champion Randy Orton as FTRKO. The trio aligned themselves wit Randy Orton during his feud over the WWE Championship with Kofi Kingston around a year ago now.
It has been previously reported that Orton and Revival pitched working together in WWE, and that has been echoed by FTR themselves during their chat with controversial wrestling figure Jim Cornette on his podcast.
During the podcast, FTR claim that Orton pitched for the trio to work together on TV every single week backstage, but WWE ultimately decided that there was no milage in a long-term stable between Dash Wilder, Scott Dawson and Randy Orton:
“With Randy, who has become one of our mentors and one of our really close friends, we talked to him every single day. He fought for us so hard to get us on TV with him every single week because he believed in our work ethic and he believed in what we brought to the table. And we watched him go to Vince every single week, or Hunter or whoever, and say, ‘we gotta keep this up’.
FTR may have debuted for AEW just under two weeks ago now, but the duo have not signed proper contracts with the new promotion and are currently working on handshake agreements. WrestleTalk’s Louis Dangoor reported back in April that FTR had no intention of signing exclusive deals with AEW due to their desire to work in both the UK and Japan.
