It’s being reported that there’s talk of a WWE tag team getting a gimmick overhaul before bringing the team back onto TV after being removed recently.
The Forgotten Sons – Wesley Blake, Steve Cutler and Jaxson Ryker – were set for a program with New Day over the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, but the group was taken off TV due to a pro-Donald Trump tweet by Ryker during the Black Lives Matter movement.
WrestlingNews.co is now reporting that there is talk of bringing Blake and Cutler – who very much made it clear they didn’t share Ryker’s views – back onto TV with a completely different gimmick. Ryker, to date, hadn’t had a match on the main roster and just acted as a cornerman to Blake and Cutler.
It’s said that, perhaps even regardless of the Ryker tweet, the heel American patriot gimmick they were doing probably isn’t the best idea right now considering the ongoing situation in the US.
Several members of the WWE locker room are said to have been upset with Ryker’s comments, including a number who addressed it publicly such as Kevin Owens and Ricochet.
WrestleTalk.com will keep you up to date on the situation, so stay tuned if any further news becomes available.
