Little has been explained about Roman Reigns working with Paul Heyman just yet. However, that is okay. In cases like this, waiting to find out a character’s motivation helps to build anticipation in the story.
Now, Reigns has commented on fans not being patient with long term booking. Specifically, he compared SmackDown to Raw, saying Raw is fast food booking and on SmackDown they are cooking steaks. Here is the quote from his meet and greet through Mania Club, courtesy of Fightful:
“We got a bunch of fast food fans and they complain that they want stories and well thought out stories to develop. When you start doing that for them, they want it all now. My people, I’m cooking a steak. We’re creating an elaborate omelet and we’re in the process of cracking eggs right now. You’re not going to get it quite yet. We’re gonna let the steaks stay on the grill. If you want your cheeseburger, watch Raw. SmackDown, we do filet mignon.”
Long-term booking has not been a strength of WWE in recent years. For that reason, many fans need to be re-conditioned on how to watch long-term storylines. Hopefully, it happens as Reigns’ work on SmackDown has been phenomenal since his return.
