A few months ago, WWE unceremoniously split up The IIconics, and it emerged that this was because Vince McMahon was pretty high on Peyton Royce and wanted to push her as a singles star.
This made it even more baffling when WWE then decided to pair Royce with Lacey Evans following the WWE Draft, seemingly ending any chance of the Australian receiving a meaningful push.
This has been discussed by Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, who is reporting that Vince McMahon has changed his mind on wanting to push Peyton as a singles star:
[WWE] are trying to make Evans & Royce a team now after Vince breaking up Royce’s other team so he could make Royce a single, pushing that for a few weeks and then changing his mind.
Peyton Royce is currently not set to be part of Team Raw at Survivor Series later this month, with the five women selected to represent the red brand being Lana, Nia Jax, Shayna Baszler, Mandy Rose and Dana Brooke.
This report comes after WrestleTalk’s own Louis Dangoor reported that Peyton Royce had actually impressed several of her peers backstage with her work ethic recently. You can read more about that by clicking here.
