Mickie James has announced that former WWE talent Chelsea Green will be in action at the all-women’s NWA Empowerrr event.
Both James and Green were released by WWE earlier this year.
Since then, James has appeared in IMPACT and headed up things in the NWA for the women, while Green has returned to IMPACT and debuted in Ring of Honor.
There were pitches for them to be involved in a WWE storyline together last year, and they even taped a match leading to that, but it didn’t make it to TV.
The idea was that it would be reminiscent of Mickie James’ introduction to WWE as an obsessed fan of Trish Stratus, only this time James would be playing the Stratus role.
Green will be involved in the women’s invitational to determine who will challenge for the NWA Women’s World Championship at NWA 73.
The other competitors confirmed for the invitational so far are Tooti Lynn and Jamie Senegal, with seven more to be named to make it 10 in total.
Also confirmed for Empowerrr is that IMPACT Knockouts Champion and close friend of Green, Deonna Purrazzo, will be on the show, and Kamille Brickhouse will defend the NWA Women’s World Championship against either The Bunny (Allie) or Leyla Hirsch.
The match between Bunny and Hirsch on tonight’s AEW Dynamite will determine who will be facing Brickhouse.
Empowerrr takes place on August 28, with NWA 73 taking place the following night on August 29. James will be in action at NWA 73.
