It’s being reported that NXT will be returning to a pre-taped format after NXT TakeOver 36 on Sunday, August 22.
As per Fightful Select, there will be NXT tapings on the Monday and Tuesday following TakeOver.
It was noted that the most recent set of NXT shows were a combination of live and taped, but it seems like it’ll be reverting to mostly taped going forward.
This is of course in the midst of the well-documented big changes that are going to be happening, with developmental becoming more OVW-esque in that it will focus on bigger, younger guys that Vince McMahon thinks would be big stars on the main roster.
The report notes that it is not known if the return to a taped format is going to be a permanent change.
TakeOver 36 will see Adam Cole have his last match under his current extension against Kyle O’Reilly in a Three Stages of Hell match, Raquel Gonzalez defend the brand’s women’s title against Dakota Kai, and Samoa Joe challenge Karrion Kross for the NXT Championship.
