Some more details have come to light regarding Brock Lesnar and his return to WWE this past Saturday at the SummerSlam pay-per-view.
In the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reports that the return was “literally a last minute deal” that was put together for “a number of reasons”.
Those reasons are said to be related to John Cena leaving, FOX, and CM Punk debuting for AEW.
FOX is believed to not be happy about the fact WWE didn’t make a major play for Punk and it seems getting Brock Lesnar back on the blue brand is WWE’s way to essentially try to make up for that.
Unfortunately in having Lesnar and Becky Lynch both return and both be on SmackDown, WWE has now annoyed the USA Network that broadcasts Raw, which is unhappy about the unbalanced rosters.
Lesnar will be appearing SmackDown tonight, and he is officially a babyface in pursuit of heel Roman Reigns’ Universal Championship.
It was reported by Fightful Select that Lesnar’s deal is for a year-and-a-half with at least eight matches, but that can always be negotiated further and changed.
