Former NXT United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne has taken to social media to comment on a possible dream match with AEW’s Bryan Danielson.
During Dunne’s first appearances for WWE during the 2017 United Kingdom Championship Tournament, The Bruiserweight sported a burgundy singlet as an homage to Danielson.
Since then, fans have been hoping to see Dunne square off with the former WWE Champion. The likelihood of this dream bout happening unfortunately has diminished following Danielson signing with AEW.
Former WWE talent Josiah Williams took to Twitter to argue that the fans deserved to see the two grapplers go head-to-head. Dunne retweeted the post, revealing that he hopes to have a match with Danielson in the future:
“I sincerely hope it’s a possibility one day First up- @SamoaJoe“
In August, it was reported that Dunne’s contract was coming up, and WWE had offered him a new deal. Following recent contract expirations, WWE now reportedly reviewed many deals so they wouldn’t be caught by surprise again.
On Tuesday, Dunne will compete in a NXT Championship #1 contenders four-way match.
