During the final round of last night’s WWE Draft on Raw, it was revealed that Olympic Gold Medalist Gable Stevenson, who only just started training as a pro-wrestler, had been drafted to Monday Night Raw.
While this is likely a PR stunt and he won’t actually wrestle for some time, Stevenson is clearly seen as a big star of the future by WWE.
Stevenson took to Twitter to share his brief reaction to being drafted.
Monday Night Raw!!! @WWE

Some fans have pointed out how new Stevenson is to the world of pro-wrestling, and have suggested he should perhaps have started in NXT, while others have likened him to Kurt Angle, who famously took to pro-wrestling like a duck to water.
There’s no reason why Gable Stevenson won’t do the same, but either way it’s a bold move by WWE, and we’ll just have to wait and see how he’s booked now he’s on the main roster.
He signed a multi-year deal with WWE last month, a deal which allows him to defend his NCAA wrestling title for the University of Minnestota. WWE has also set up a special training center for him close to where he is studying.
