Here is the latest on ticket sales for the upcoming WWE Day 1 pay-per-view, two weeks out from the show.
It was recently reported that ticket sales for the January 1 show have been strong, so the upper decks of the arena have been expanded. In the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer stated that over the course of a week, the show went from 6,769 to 8,922 tickets distributed.
The report stated that this ‘huge movement’ indicates that WWE Day 1 tickets are the hottest tickets that WWE has on sale, aside from WrestleMania and Royal Rumble.
WWE President Nick Khan, who originally pushed for WWE Day 1, reportedly picked to host the event in Atlanta as there will be an estimated 350,000 tourists in the area on that weekend.
Roman Reigns will defend his Universal Championship against Brock Lesnar on the show. Meltzer previously reported that this bout was planned for WWE Day 1, rather than Royal Rumble, to establish the new pay-per-view as a significant event.
